Sage's Cafe (review submitted 6/11/06)
They have a gluten-free menu. You can check their ingredients at www.sagescafe.com and click on their ingredients list. A GFA (Gluten-Free Alternative) is provided for most dishes.

This restaurant is located in the Sheraton, downtwon Salt Lake City. They created a GF dinner menu for the GIG 2006 Conference. The manager said they decided not only to keep it, but to expand it. :-))

I emailed corporate Buca di Beppo and they sent this list of gluten free menu items on 10/18/05. I have been to Buca di Beppo in Salt Lake City four times since then and have had no problems with contamination. This restaurant is fun to go to with a big group, since you share big plates of food. They call it 'family style.' Just tell the server you request the chicken dishes listed to not be dusted with flour.

"I wasn't sure if you were aware, but we went to Chilis for dinner tonight and they provided me with a separate gluten free menu. The manager came out and met with my daughter and worked not only with her dietary needs, but with her taste preferences as well. As a teenager she has become picky on top of her gluten-free needs. Chilis worked with us to meet her needs. I was deinitely impressed!"

"They make a rice/lentil dosa, which is a large thin sourdough flatbread made from rice and lentil flour (I inquired and it has it's own pan, so that decreases the risk of cross contamination with other bread). I had tried them in New York and loved them, but didn't expect to find them in Utah. The dosa came with a spicy potato and vegetable filling, spicy lentil soup (with no wheat in it), and kurma sauce for dipping. I'm not sure these are the usual sides/dips that come with it, or if they customized the order for me. The dosas are huge, and very delicious, and the service is great. They were very patient with all my questions and phone calls. I highly recommend them!"

"I am from California and take my Mexican food very seriously.
This is some of the best Mexican food I have ever had! The manager knew
exactly what was in the food and I could have almost everything on the menu.
They didn't even thicken most of their sauces with flour like some do and make
their own stock. Highly recommend this place."

"I contacted the corporate headquarters for Texas
Roadhouse and received a gluten-free eating guide from them. We have eaten at
the Taylorsville location as well as in North Carolina while traveling. [We
were] able to order off the menu. Both locations were accommodating and seemed
to be knowledgeable about providing for [gluten-free] dietary needs. A word of
caution would be to read the menu carefully as items such as naked buffalo wings
are safe, but the blue cheese dressing normally served with it is not
g-free."

"I want to add a restaurant to the list of places where you can easily eat gluten free. The name of the restaurant is Mazza
(mazzacafe.com). The owner Ali Sabbah has always served fresh tasty food. I've been a regular customer of his since he opened several years ago. When he found out about my celiac diagnosis he asked me what he could do to make changes in the menu and kitchen to make more items gluten-free. At my encouraging he has even added a gluten-free menu to his website. He recommends people
download a copy and bring it into the restaurant. The food is wonderfully healthy, tasty comfort food made with love."

"My sister in law did a booth down at that food expo last weekend, she came across Sunfresh
Market and Cafe. They have a gluten-free menu. She brought one home for me, looks great!
I can't wait to go there for lunch! (they close at 8 pm during the week and 6 pm on
Saturdays, closed Sundays) She said the lady has dealt with lots of Celiacs and is
knowledgeable about the "safety"... a relative or something... I am definitely going to go there after looking over the menu."

"We have found a delightful restaurant that is almost exclusively GF.
It is East West connection in Foothill Village. The food seems to be an
Asian hybrid of some sort. It is wonderful and all of the servers that we
have talked to seem very aware of problems with wheat. Some of the spring
rolls are made with tapioca flour. As usual, though, check with the
server."

"I had a VERY pleasant response at China Lily restaurant at Jordan
Commons in Sandy, UT. I called ahead and when I arrived for dinner
the owners had a special menu highlighted for me with a choice of 3 or 4 entries
(not bad for Chinese, soy sauce-laden food).
